If you’ve ever dreamed of stepping into the world of Pokémon, the new PokéPark Kanto theme park is about to make that possible. The Tokyo Trainer Area attraction is billed to be home to over 600 Pokémon and is due to open in early 2026.

Much like the Pokémon With You train, it’s sure to be a must-stop destination for all Poké fans. In this post, we’ll explain all that’s known about the upcoming opening of PokéPark Kanto.

What is PokéPark Kanto?

The park as a whole has been designed specifically for real-world Pokémon encounters, so fans will be able to wander around the attraction spotting creatures in the wild and meeting fellow Trainers.

The official teaser site describes the park as a permanent outdoor Pokémon area that will be split into two zones: Pokémon Forest and Sedge Town.

Pokémon Forest is reported to be a long, walkable wilderness area with hilly paths, tunnels, trails, and other natural features. As you explore, you’ll have the chance to spot Pokémon from Kanto and other regions ‘in the wild’.

The idea behind this section of the park is to observe Pokémon in their natural habitat. They could be running, battling, sharing berries, or hiding underground or behind greenery.

Sedge Town is the social center of the park. It’s been designed to be a place where Trainers and Pokémon meet, socialize, and form friendships.

Official sources have cited a Trainers’ Market, a Pokémon Center, a Poké Mart, a Poké Gym, a Pokémon parade, two other attractions, and the landmark Primarina Fountain as a gathering spot.

The space allocated for the entire PokéPark Kanto is reported to span about 280,000 square feet, similar to Universal Studios Japan’s Super Nintendo World, or the LEGOLAND Discovery Center in Odaiba.

Where will PokéPark Kanto be?

The park will be located inside Yomiuriland, an amusement park in the western suburbs of Tokyo. Yomiuriland opened in 1964 and has a number of themed rollercoasters and amusement rides, as well as a water park area and gondola ‘Sky Shuttle’.

It’s not yet known if tickets for PokéPark will also grant access to the other Yomiuriland attractions.

How to get to PokéPark Kanto

PokéPark Kanto will be located inside Yomiuriland in Inagi City in western Tokyo. There are a number of ways to get to Yomiuriland from the city center.

However you travel, it takes around 45 minutes to 1 hour to reach from Shinjuku Station, or an additional 15 minutes from Tokyo Central Station. Follow on-site guidance to the new area once it opens.

When is PokéPark Kanto opening?

The official opening date is currently listed as spring 2026, with ticket reservations going live in fall 2025. If you’re planning to include PokéPark Kanto on your itinerary, make sure to check the official website for updates and more information.
