The JR East South Hokkaido Rail Pass is an ideal option if you’re planning to exclusively explore the Kanto, Tohoku, and South Hokkaido regions for up to 6 consecutive days.

It’s an economical option, even if you are simply planning a return trip to Sapporo from Tokyo. In comparison to the pass' cost of 35,000 yen, a one way ticket between Tokyo and Sapporo costs around 28,000 yen.

It’s also a good option for travelers arriving at Shin Chitose Airport in Hokkaido and wishing to travel beyond Sapporo to discover cities such as Hakodate and Aomori.

Beyond the main cities in the Tohoku region, the pass is also a good way to economically explore destinations off the beaten track such as Shirakami in Akita, Zao Fox Village in Miyagi, and Zaō in Yamagata.
