What is the activation date?

The activation date of your Japan Rail Pass is the date you wish to start using your pass. Any date that is within 30 days of the exchange date can be selected as “Activation”.

Example: If you decide to exchange your order on June 1, you have the option of selecting an activation date over the next 30 days (any date between June 1 and 30).

Once you have chosen the date that best fits your travel plans, and confirmed it to the staff at any Exchange Office in Japan, you will no longer be able to change it.

If you have selected June 1 as your activation date and you have purchased a 7-day Japan Rail Pass, it will be valid from June 1 (until midnight on June 7).
