Can I call and text using the Data SIM card?

A “Data SIM” is an internet-only SIM card. Therefore, texting and calling are not possible using a Data SIM.

However, this only refers to Japanese network texts and messages. All internet-based messages such as Whatsapp, Viber, Telegram, Skype, Facebook Messenger, etc. will be available. Making phone calls on apps such as Skype is a great option for free communication with your friends and relatives

What is the Data SIM internet speed and are there limitations?

The maximum internet speed of the Data SIM card is 225 Mbps. This is the highest mobile internet speed available to visitors in Japan.

There is no specific Internet limit. The only restriction is that for a 15-day SIM card you get up to 50 GB and for a 30-day SIM card you get up to 100 GB at a top speed of 225 Mbps. After reaching this limit, the internet connection will slow down to 128 Kbps.

How long is the Data SIM card valid for?

You can choose the validity period of your Data SIM card when completing your order. You can select from either 15 or 30 consecutive days of SIM validity.

You will be able to make this selection upon completing your online order. The beginning of the data SIM card validity period is determined by the activation date you choose. After inserting the SIM card in your device, you will need to configure it by using the instruction manual. Once the selected validity period has passed, the SIM card will no longer be active.
