It is located on a man-made island which is about <strong>40 kilometers south of Osaka<\/strong>, Japan\u2019s historical second city.<\/p>\n<p>There are multiple ways of <strong>traveling between Kansai International Airport and Osaka<\/strong> including by train, bus or taxi. This guide will explain the various ways you can make the journey and how you can do it with and without your Japan Rail Pass.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Kansai Airport<\/strong> has two terminals. <strong>Terminal 1 is the main terminal and train station is next to it<\/strong>. Terminal 2 was built more recently and it mainly serves low cost airlines which run flights from nearby countries. Depending on where you need to go, can <strong>take a train from Kansai Airport to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/blog\/osaka-station-city\">Osaka Station<\/a><\/strong>, Namba Station, Tennoji Station or Shin-Osaka Station. Here are the lines you can use to get to Osaka:<\/p>\n<h3><span id=\"The_Haruka_Express\">The Haruka Express<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/blog\/haruka-express-kansai-airport\">Haruka Express<\/a> departs from Kansai Airport <strong>every 30 minutes and stops at Tennoji, Osaka and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/blog\/shin-osaka-station\">Shin-Osaka<\/a> stations<\/strong>. It is the <strong>fastest way<\/strong> to make the journey. Travelers can use their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\">JR Pass<\/a> to ride the Haruka Express or tickets cost between 2000 and 4000 yen for passengers without the pass), depending on the destination station. Reserved and non-reserved seats are available.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re lucky, you might be able to catch the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/blog\/hello-kitty-haruka-express\">Hello Kitty! Tickets cost 1000 yen to Tennoji Station and 1200 yen to Osaka Station (JR Pass holders can access the line using their passes). <strong>It takes 15 minutes longer<\/strong> than the Haruka Express as it makes more stops.<\/p>\n<h3><span id=\"Nankai_Rapit\">Nankai Rapi:t<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The Nankai trains <strong>connects Kansai Airport with Namba<\/strong>. There are two types of Nankai trains: the \u2018Rapi:t Alpha\u2019 and \u2018Rapi:t Beta\u2019 trains. The only difference between them is that Beta trains make two more stops and are therefore slightly slower. The trains <strong>depart every 30 minutes<\/strong> and the price of the train is 1340 yen (the Nankai trains are not covered by the JR Pass).<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"Traveling_by_Bus\">Traveling by Bus<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Limousine bus<\/strong> services run frequently between Kansai Airport and a wide range of stops in Osaka including Osaka Station, Namba Station, Shin-Osaka Station, and Universal Studios. There are also night buses which run once an hour from the bus station <strong>between 12am and 5am<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The journey takes <strong>one hour and the price is 1,550 yen<\/strong>. Passengers can buy tickets from vending machine at the airport<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"Catching_a_Taxi\">Catching a Taxi<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Catching a <strong>taxi from outside of Kansai Airport<\/strong> is easy but as the journey is <strong>50 minutes long<\/strong>, it is very expensive. The taxi fare costs <strong>around 15,000 yen<\/strong> in the day, or 17,500 at night. For this reason, it is not a typical way of making the journey from Kansai Airport to Osaka.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"Early_Morning_Arrivals\">Early Morning Arrivals<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Travelers arriving at Kansai Airport <strong>earlier than 8am<\/strong> should be aware that all trains and most buses don\u2019t run overnight. Visitors have the option of <strong>catching a night bus<\/strong> which run hourly or catching a taxi.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\"  decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-2489\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/osaka-train-station-800x487.jpg\" alt=\"Osaka Station city\" width=\"800\" height=\"487\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"Late_Night_Arrivals\">Late Night Arrivals<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The last Haruka express train from the airport to Osaka Station departs at 10:15 PM. The last train from Kansai Airport to Osaka (Namba) leaves just before midnight. The last of the normal buses <strong>leaves at around 23.00pm<\/strong> although the <strong>night buses continue to run hourly<\/strong>. Visitors have the option of catching a taxi or staying overnight in a hotel and catching a train in the morning.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"Using_the_JR_Pass\">Using the JR Pass<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The JR Pass is the cheapest way of getting around Japan (as long as you plan to make a couple of journeys). You can use your Japan Rail Pass to get from Kansai Airport to Osaka by catching the Haruka Express or Kansai Airport Rapid. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\">JR Pass<\/a> holders can just check the times when they land and catch the next train available.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kansai International Airport (KIX) is one of Japan\u2019s largest and busiest airports.
