The festival is a precursor event for the <strong>Heigen Matsuri<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>It forms an important part of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/blog\/obon-festival-in-japan\">Obon<\/a> holiday period<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Dates<\/strong>: Kachimai Fireworks Festival is held on August 13 in Obihiro, a city in the Tokachi sub-prefecture in Hokkaido.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Access<\/strong>: The best way to get there is by train using the <strong>Tohoku and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/blog\/hokkaido-shinkansen\">Hokkaido Shinkansen<\/a><\/strong> lines to Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto Station. From there, go to Minami Chitose station with a <strong>Limited Express Super Hakuto<\/strong> and then take the Sekisho line to Obihiro. Another option is to make your way to Tokyo Haneda Airport via the JR Yamanote Line and then fly to Obihiro Airport.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span id=\"Naniwa_Yodogawa_Fireworks_Festival\">Naniwa Yodogawa Fireworks Festival<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Naniwa Yodogawa <\/strong>is the youngest of the festivals on the list. A <strong>group of volunteers<\/strong> launched it in 1989 as part of a wider effort to breathe life into Osaka. The event is known for its special, <strong>hand-made fireworks<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Osaka is known as the city of water as it contains so many rivers. During this festival, crowds <strong>gather on the riverbanks <\/strong>with chairs and picnics so it\u2019s important to get there early.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Dates<\/strong>: Held in <strong>Osaka<\/strong>, near the Yodo River, on the first Saturday of August.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Access<\/strong>: You can go there from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/blog\/tokyo-to-kyoto-and-osaka\">Tokyo to Shin Osaka<\/a> taking the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/blog\/tokaido-shinkansen-jr-pass\">Tokaido Shinkasen<\/a> line. The outline of the <strong>Itsukushima Shrine<\/strong> against the backdrop of the explosions has a unique charm.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, the Miyajima Fireworks Festival is no longer celebrated every year, with many recent years being cancelled.
