The subway trains provide the most direct access to the train station in Namba\u2019s downtown center.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Shin-Osaka Station is a four-story building. <strong>Most areas are labeled in both English and Japanese to help you find the correct gate and platform.<\/strong> Bilingual station maps are located on each floor. Icons are also used, such as a blue square with an image of a Shinkansen train to indicate that train\u2019s location. Color coded arrows and lines adorn the floor to help you find your way.<\/p>\n<p><strong>To access the trains of Shin-Osaka, enter the gates on the third floor<\/strong> \u2013 South or Central gates for the Shinkansen, and the East Gate for other trains. JR Pass holders may use the Shinkansen gates without purchasing a Shinkansen ticket; simply show your pass.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The ticket counters are also located on this floor.<\/strong> For access to the Shinkansen trains, you will travel up to the fourth floor, and for other JR trains, the second floor. Transfer gates allow you to pass between one train type and another.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"Things_to_do_around_Shin-Osaka_Station\"><strong>Things to do around Shin-Osaka Station<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>There are many shops and restaurants inside the station itself.<\/strong> These include a 7-Eleven on the first floor, as well as the Libro bookstore, Kyoto Craft Mart, and Starbucks coffee on the second floor.<strong> Other restaurants are located on the third-floor concourse.<\/strong> Shin-Osaka\u2019s largest restaurant is called <em>Aji no Kouji<\/em>, meaning \u201cFlavor Lane.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>You may wish to stow your luggage before departing the station for a day on the town. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/blog\/transporting-luggage-forwarding\">Coin lockers<\/a> are located on the first through third floors.<\/strong> The first-floor exit allows access to taxis, city buses, limousine buses, car rental, and bicycle rentals to aid in your exploration.
