Alternatively, make the return trip to Tokyo to spend the night.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"Day_3_Nikko_or_Tokyo_to_Sendai\">Day 3: Nikko or Tokyo to Sendai<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you stayed in Nikko, take the JR Nikko Line to Utsunomiya, then board the <strong>Tohoku Shinkansen<\/strong> to Sendai. The full journey takes around 2 hours. From Tokyo, you can catch the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/blog\/tohoku-shinkansen-jr-pass\">Tohoku Shinkansen<\/a> directly.<\/p>\n<p>Once you arrive, take time to explore Sendai\u2019s relaxed city center on foot.
