If you\u2019re staying close to Shin-Osaka station, head there and catch a Hikari or Kodama train on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/blog\/sanyo-shinkansen-jr-pass\">Sanyo Shinkansen<\/a> line. You\u2019ll arrive at Himeji Station in around 30 to 40 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>You can also get to Himeji from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/blog\/osaka-station-city\">Osaka Station<\/a> with the JR Special Rapid Service in around 1 hour.<\/p>\n<p>Once you arrive, walk from the station to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/blog\/himeji-castle-travel-guide\">Himeji Castle<\/a>. It\u2019s a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Japan\u2019s most popular original castles. It\u2019s famous for its friendly sika deer who wander around freely, as well as the<strong> Great Buddha<\/strong>, one of the largest in Japan, in Todai-ji Temple. The journey takes about 1 hour. The route <strong>follows the coast<\/strong>, so prepare for pleasant views as you travel.
