This journey is included in your JR pass.<\/p>\n<p>Then, <strong>transfer to the Ginza Subway Line<\/strong> to reach Asakusa. This journey takes approximately 10 minutes and costs 180 yen.<\/p>\n<h3><span id=\"From_Shinjuku_Station\">From Shinjuku Station<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Board the orange <strong>JR Chuo Line to Kanda Station<\/strong>, a 10-minute trip <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/the-japan-rail-pass\">covered by your JR Pass<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Once there, switch to the <strong>Ginza Subway Line to continue to Asakusa<\/strong>, which also takes about 10 minutes. It will cost you an additional 180 yen.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n            <a class=\"fasc-button banner-button-shortcode fasc-size-large fasc-type-flat fasc-rounded-medium ico-fa fasc-ico-after fa-chevron-circle-right fasc-style-bold\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/the-japan-rail-pass\">\n                Buy your JR Pass\n            <\/a>\n        <\/p><\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"Asakusa_Station_train_lines\">Asakusa Station train lines<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Asakusa Station is <strong>serviced by multiple operators<\/strong>, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Tobu Railway<\/strong>: the Skytree Line, along with Limited Express trains like the Spacia Kegon and Ryomo, depart from here<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tokyo Metro<\/strong>: services the Ginza Line<\/li>\n<li><strong>Toei Subway<\/strong>: serves the Asakusa Line and provides direct access to both <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/blog\/haneda-airport-to-tokyo\">Haneda<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/blog\/narita-express\">Narita Airport<\/a> through its two platforms<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tsukuba Express<\/strong>: mainly used by locals commuting to and from the Ibaraki and Tsukuba regions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There is also a <strong>bus stop outside most of the stations<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>As a non-JR station, Asakusa does not serve any JR trains. As such, these lines are <strong>not covered by the Japan Rail Pass<\/strong>, so you will need to pay additional fees to ride these trains.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"Asakusa_Station_layout\">Asakusa Station layout<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The station complex <strong>actually consists of 4 different stations<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Tobu Railway station<\/strong> shares the space of the Matsuya Department Store. It has 3 island platforms serving five tracks. Tracks 1 and 2 serve local, semi-express, and express trains.<\/p>\n<p>Tracks three and four <strong>provide access to the various Limited Express trains<\/strong>. Track five serves the Limited Express Revaty.<\/p>\n<p>The two side platforms of the Tokyo Metro station are located underground. Look for green-roofed structures of traditional architecture covering the stairwells.<\/p>\n<p>To the south of the <strong>Tokyo Metro station<\/strong> is the underground Toei station. It has 2 platforms serving the Toei Asakusa Line. You can reach Haneda Airport from Platform 1, and you can get to Narita Airport via Platform 2.<\/p>\n<p>Connecting <strong>passages link Tobu station to the Tokyo Metro statio<\/strong>n and the Tokyo Metro station to the Toei station. However, there is not a direct passage between the Toei and Tobu stations.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Tsukuba Express is located in an additional station portion<\/strong>, 600 meters to the west of the primary station complex. This portion of the station has a single underground island platform on the fourth basement level.<\/p>\n<h3><span id=\"Locker_services_at_Asakusa_Station\">Locker services at Asakusa Station<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Each of the station portions <strong>provides both key and automatic storage lockers<\/strong>. You can use <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/blog\/using-japanese-ic-cards\">IC cards such as Pasmo and Suica<\/a> to access the automatic lockers. They come in 3 different sizes.<\/p>\n<p>There are relatively few lockers compared to the number of passengers, and they sometimes may all be full. And if you feel like a shopping spree, you have the Ekimise Department Store right in the Tobu Station building. Another option is the <strong>Rox Department Store to the southeast<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>One of the most notable attractions in the vicinity is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/blog\/sensoji-temple-tokyo\">Senso-Ji Temple<\/a>, located 300 meters west of the Tsukuba Express portion of the station.<\/p>\n<p>Senso-Ji is <strong>the oldest and most significant Buddhist temple in Tokyo<\/strong>, and is often considered one of the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/blog\/best-temples-in-japan\"> best temples in Japan<\/a>. It\u2019s also the most visited spiritual site in the world, as over 30 million travelers make a pilgrimage there each year.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re visiting the area as a family, then <strong>a trip to the nearby Hanayashiki Park is a must<\/strong>.
