It connects <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/blog\/osaka-station-city\">Osaka Station<\/a> (22 min from Sannomiya) to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/blog\/himeji-castle-travel-guide\">Himeji Station <\/a>(42 minutes from Sannomiya), with Kobe&#8217;s Sannomiya Statio being one of the stops along the way. Other stops include Motomachi and Kobe Stations, between Sannomiya and Himeji.<\/p>\n<p>The Kobe Line is served by two above-ground platforms and four tracks, two in each direction.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"Sannomiya_Station_Trains\">Sannomiya Station Trains<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Rapid Services and Special Rapid Services are available from JR Sannomiya Station to Amagasaki Station, Osaka Station, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/blog\/kyoto-train-station\">Kyoto Station<\/a>. These direct services take 15, 21, and 52 minutes, respectively. Trains also run to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/blog\/himeji-castle-travel-guide\">Himeji Station<\/a>, a trip of 52 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Other special trains stop at JR Sannomiya Station as they traverse their route. The Super Hakuto Limited Express, which runs from Kyoto Station to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/blog\/tottori-sand-dunes\">Tottori<\/a> and Kurayoshi Station, and the Hamakaze Limited Express, which runs between Osaka and Kinosaki Onsen, are two examples.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"JR_Sannomiya_to_Shin-Kobe_Station\">JR Sannomiya to Shin-Kobe Station<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>To the north of JR Sannomiya Station is Shin-Kobe Station, which serves the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/blog\/sanyo-shinkansen-jr-pass\">Sanyo Shinkansen<\/a> (from Osaka to Hakata-Fukuoka).<\/p>\n<p>You can reach Shin-Kobe from Sannomiya in less than 10 minutes, by taking the Kobe Subway\u2019s Seishin-Yamate Line (not covered by the JR Pass) or a local bus.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"Highway_Buses\">Highway Buses<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Highway and limousine buses travel from Sannomiya Station to locations throughout Japan. Destinations include <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/blog\/tokyo-train-station\">Tokyo Station<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/blog\/ikebukuro-station\">Ikebukuro Station<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/blog\/nagoya-station\">Nagoya Station<\/a>, Itami Airport, and Kansai International Airport.<\/p>\n<p>Local city buses, including the Kobe City Loop Bus, also depart from the station. The bus terminal is located inside the Mint shopping complex on floor 1F.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"Things_to_do_in_Sannomiya\">Things to do in Sannomiya<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>There are a number of things to do in <strong>downtown Kobe<\/strong>, within walking distance of Sannomiya Station. A restaurant area known as the \u201cDining Road\u201d can be found in front of the central ticket gate. Nearby, you will find the historic houses of the Kitano area.<\/p>\n<p>You can shop \u2018til you drop by visiting the area\u2019s many <strong>department stores<\/strong>, including Mint Kobe, Sogo, Kobe Marui, Sannomiya OPA, and Vivre. Some are connected to the station itself.<\/p>\n<p>Would you like to take a <strong>day trip from Kobe<\/strong>? We recommend historic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/blog\/himeji-castle-travel-guide\">Himeji<\/a>, famous for its white feudal castle. The site is regarded as a national treasure and a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/blog\/unesco-world-heritage-sites-in-japan\">UNESCO World Heritage Site<\/a>. By train, the trip takes just over half an hour. Other Himeji attractions include the Mount Shosha Temple, which was featured in the film <em>The Last Samurai<\/em>, and the Kokoen Japanese-style garden.<\/p>\n<p>Or, you can relax at <strong>Kinosaki Onsen<\/strong>, one of the most popular onsen destinations in the Kansai Region. The trip takes about three and a half hours by train.
