The Keiyo Line first opened in 1975. Over 700,000 passengers utilize this railway line each day.<\/p>\n<p>Did you know? The name \u201cKeiyo\u201d is derived from the names of the terminus stations that are linked by the line, Tokyo and Chiba.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Trains are a safe, efficient, and remarkable way to travel around Japan. As an international traveler, you will be able to purchase a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/the-japan-rail-pass\">Japan Rail Pass<\/a>, also known as a JR Pass. Portions of the line are underground or elevated. Together with the Yokohama Line, Nambu Line, and Musashino Line, it is part of the <strong>Tokyo Mega Loop<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>eighteen stations<\/strong> along the JR Keiyo line include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/blog\/tokyo-train-station\">Tokyo Station<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Hatchobori Station<\/li>\n<li>Etchujima Station<\/li>\n<li>Shiomi Station<\/li>\n<li>Shin-Kiba Station<\/li>\n<li>Kasai-Rinkai Park Station<\/li>\n<li>Maihama Station<\/li>\n<li>Shin-Urayasu Station<\/li>\n<li>Ichikawashiohama Station<\/li>\n<li>Nishi-Funabashi Station<\/li>\n<li>Futamatashimmachi Station<\/li>\n<li>Minami-Funabashi Station<\/li>\n<li>Shin-Narashino Station<\/li>\n<li>Keihimmakuhari Station<\/li>\n<li>Kemigawahama Station<\/li>\n<li>Inagekaigan Station<\/li>\n<li>Chibaminato Station<\/li>\n<li>Soga Station<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"note\">Please note that the <strong>Keiyo Line should not be confused with the Keio Line<\/strong>, a privately operated line on the west side of Tokyo.<\/p>\n<p>JR East\u2019s <strong>new station development plan<\/strong> includes additional station construction between Shin-Narashino Station and Kihimmakuhari Station. Proposed names for this new station are yet to be announced.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"JR_Keiyo_line_services\">JR Keiyo line services<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The JR Keiyo Line is considered a commuter rail service, meaning it <strong>connects the metropolitan area to adjacent suburbs and towns<\/strong>. The trains on this line are primarily <strong>local trains<\/strong>, operating at slower speeds than the famed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/shinkansen-bullet-trains\">Shinkansen bullet trains<\/a>. The average operating speed along the Keiyo Line is 100 kilometers or 60 miles per hour.<\/p>\n<p>There are four types of services that operate on the JR Keiyo Line:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>Keiyo Line Local<\/strong>, or <em>kakueki-teisha<\/em>, trains stop at all Keiyo Line stations with the exception of Nishi-Funabashi Station.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Musashino Line Local<\/strong> trains stop at all Keiyo Line stations between <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/blog\/tokyo-train-station\">Tokyo Station<\/a> and Nishi-Funabashi Station, before diverging onto the Musashino Line.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Keiyo Line Rapid<\/strong>, or <em>kaisoku<\/em>, trains make a limited number of stops, shortening the length of the trip between Tokyo Station and Soba Station. This \u201cneon city\u201d never sleeps, and holds something special for travelers of every taste. There are <strong>shopping districts, museums, beautiful urban parks, unique eateries, cosplay and anime districts<\/strong>, and much more.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/blog\/tokyo-train-station\">Tokyo Station<\/a> itself also serves as a departure point for regions all across Japan. All this can be done from within the depths of Tokyo Station!<\/p>\n<p>The JR Keiyo Line is the <strong>primary access point for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/blog\/tokyo-disneyland\">Tokyo Disney Resort<\/a><\/strong>, located east of Tokyo. <strong>Tokyo Disneyland<\/strong> has been called the \u201choly grail\u201d of all the Disney parks around the world. Themed areas include the World Bazaar, Adventureland, Westernland, Critter Country, Fantasyland, Toontown, and Tomorrowland.
