With its Zen gardens, giant entrance doors, and some smaller temples, the Nanzen-ji has everything there is to offer to Japanese culture lovers.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/blog\/fushimi-inari-taisha-shrine\"><strong>Fushimi Inari-Taisha<\/strong><\/a><strong> &#8211; <\/strong>The <strong>thousands of vermillion torii gates<\/strong> are some of the most photographed in the area and one of the greatest places in Kyoto. Visitors are not allowed on the first floor of the building, which houses historical Buddha statues.<\/span> However, the windows on this floor are usually open, so tourists can look through and enjoy the ancient ambiance of the temple. Close to the exit, you can sip on traditional tea and tasty treats.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span id=\"Day_6Nara\">Day 6:\u00a0Nara<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Take the <strong>JR Nara Line<\/strong> <strong>from Kyoto Station<\/strong> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">for less than an hour to reach <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/blog\/nara-jr-pass\"><strong>Nara <\/strong><\/a>&#8211; the first permanent capital of Japan and one of the few cities packed with so much cultural heritage, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Isuien Garden<\/strong> &#8211; Gorgeous ponds give life to the incredible nature surrounding the gardens, making you feel welcome and at peace. Isuien has actually two different parts, each offering tea houses and authentic Japanese atmosphere.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Todai-ji Temple<\/strong> &#8211; The all-time Nara and Japan-must-see!
