This often includes passage through <strong>Kawaguchiko Station<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Kawaguchiko Station is <strong>one of the highest in the world<\/strong> at an altitude of <strong>2,812 feet<\/strong> or 857 meters. It was named for <strong>Lake Kawaguchiko<\/strong>, one of the most accessible and interesting of the <strong>Fuji Five Lakes<\/strong>. Founded in 1950, the train station has grown to serve around <strong>3,000 passengers daily<\/strong>. Officially, the Fujikyuko Line consists of the <strong>Otsuki Line<\/strong> and the <strong>Kawaguchiko Line<\/strong>, but the two are <strong>operated as one line<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The Fujikyuko Line is the only rail service to the <strong>northern side of Mount Fuji<\/strong>. It consists of a single track with passing loops at some of the stations. During the ascent, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/blog\/mount-fuji\">Mount Fuji<\/a> is often visible from the train<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Kawaguchiko is <strong>not a JR station<\/strong>. Therefore, the Japan Rail Pass will not be accepted for passage on between Otsuki and Kawaguchiko. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/blog\/using-japanese-ic-cards\">IC cards such as Pasmo and Suica<\/a> are accepted. The <strong>JR Tokyo Wide Pass<\/strong> will also cover the entire trip between Tokyo and Kawaguchiko Station.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"Kawaguchiko_station_layout\">Kawaguchiko station layout<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Kawaguchiko Station contains <strong>two outdoor island platforms<\/strong> and a <strong>bus terminal<\/strong>. The bus stop known as Terminal 1 can be reached by passing through the station\u2019s ticket gate. Buses may be more frequent than trains, and 2-day unlimited bus passes may be purchased.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/d\/embed?mid=1YT0o256paOeUUPNOvgEnQH12aYazbR6K\" width=\"800\" height=\"480\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span>\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"How_to_get_to_Kawaguchiko_station_from_Tokyo\">How to get to Kawaguchiko station from Tokyo<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Kawaguchiko Station is located at 3641 Funatsu, Fujikawaguchiko, Yamanashi Prefecture. It is the terminal station of the Fujikyuko Line.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: 0;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/embed?pb=!1m14!1m8!1m3!1d370668.7743829104!2d138.8141353847291!3d35.4428711834597!3m2!1i1024!2i768!4f13.1!3m3!1m2!1s0x0%3A0x7dbea29f223111b!2z5rKz5Y-j5rmW6aeF!5e0!3m2!1sen!2ses!4v1582281033655!5m2!1sen!2ses\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Kawaguchiko Station can only be reached by train using the Fujikyu Railway Line. <strong>From <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/blog\/shinjuku-station\">Shinjuku Station<\/a> (Tokyo)<\/strong>, you may take the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/blog\/chuo-sobu-line\">JR Chuo Line<\/a> to Otsuki Station<\/strong>. There, <strong>transfer to the Fujikyu Line to Kawaguchiko Station<\/strong>. This trip takes about <strong>two and a half hours<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3><span id=\"Using_your_JR_Pass\">Using your JR Pass<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/blog\/fuji-excursion-train\"> Fuji Excursion<\/a><\/strong> is a regular limited express service which runs <strong>directly<\/strong> between <strong>Shinjuku<\/strong> on the Chuo Line and <strong>Kawaguchiko<\/strong> (Lake Kawaguchi) on the Fujikyuko Line. In spring, the area comes alive with colorful <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/blog\/japan-cherry-blossom-forecast\">cherry blossoms<\/a><\/strong>. In autumn, it is a prime location for <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jrailpass.com\/blog\/japan-autumn-leaves-forecast\">koyo leaf viewing<\/a><\/strong>. The mountain is best viewed from <strong>Lake Kawaguchiko\u2019s northern shore<\/strong> in the early morning before 9 am. The Red Line is the <strong>Kawaugchiko Sightseeing Bus<\/strong>, the Green Line is the <strong>Saiko Sightseeing Bus<\/strong>, the Blue Line is the <strong>Narusawa, Shojiko, and Motosuko Sightseeing Bus<\/strong>, and the Brown Line is the free <strong>Fujikyu Loop Shuttle Bus<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Unique shops can also be found in Kawaguchiko.
